With the continued growth of global renewable energy capacity—which the International Energy Agency (IEA) predicts will account for 43% of global electricity generation by 2030—the demand for high-performance cables capable of withstanding extreme environmental conditions is more urgent than ever. The Tianshan North Foothills New Energy Base in Xinjiang, with an installed capacity of 1.2 gigawatts, will be operational on March 15, 2025. It is a hybrid facility integrating concentrated solar power (CSP), wind power, and energy storage. Located in a desert region, the base requires cables capable of withstanding CSP receiver temperatures up to 550°C, diurnal temperature variations of 40°C, and intense ultraviolet radiation.
For this demanding project, Anhui Jinhong provided a series of customized cable solutions totaling RMB 131.68 million, designed to ensure high performance and high reliability:
Due to the site's location 100 kilometers from the city center, logistical challenges were significant. To address this, Jinhong not only delivered the cables but also trained 30 local technicians for cable installation and maintenance, supporting talent development for the region's renewable energy infrastructure. This training is crucial for ensuring the project's sustainability and filling the global talent gap in the renewable energy sector.
The Tianshan North Foothills New Energy Base plays a crucial role in China's efforts to achieve carbon neutrality, with an estimated annual reduction of 2.8 million tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to the emissions of 600,000 vehicles. Jinhong's cables played a key role in ensuring 100% operational status of concentrated solar power (CSP) during the extreme summer heat wave of 2024. Furthermore, Jinhong's photovoltaic cables demonstrated exceptional reliability, with a failure rate of only 0.1%, far below the global industry average of 2%.
This success further solidifies Jinhong's leading position in renewable energy cable solutions, a sector projected to grow at 12% annually until 2030. The Tianshan project not only showcases Jinhong's expertise in providing high-quality renewable energy cables but also strengthens its role in global energy infrastructure, ensuring the sustainable development of green energy projects.
